Dora’s babies

About a week ago Dora’s eggs hatched. She had laid them under a hutch in her aviary (where there are 12 other pigeons), where she’s successfully reared babies before, however, the day after they hatched it snowed heavily.

I was worried for them of course since it was very cold but Dora and her mate, Pidge, are excellent parents and kept their babies warm. Here’s a photo of their week (about) old babies. Very sweet little things with their yellow caps on!

15th Jan - about a week old.

18th Jan - three days later and look how big they have grown!!
