I would like to thank everyone for their amazing support after reading my last post, Under attack.
THANK YOU!!!
You’ve all been wonderful and lovely in your comments and views. The world is a much better place with you in it.
While I know in my heart that I’m doing the right thing to provide a safe and loving home for Elmo and Georgie and no one will be able to convince me otherwise, I feel a bit sad that someone else disagrees so much. It’s silly, really, to get upset about it when I know that there will always be someone who will not be able to understand what wonderful creatures pigeons are. When I look at my two darling pigeons I cannot help but think, “Who in their right mind would want to harm them?”
Elmo and Georgie send everyone their love!!
This is one of my favourite photos of Georgie snuggling up to me (photo taken in 2008):
Elmo has such trust in us that he’ll fall fast asleep without a worry in the world:
You’re pigeons will love you forever and please don’t forget that! That one person doesn’t know a thing about pigeons
It’s so beautiful! ^_^
I would like to say that I find it atrocious that anyone would even consider putting down a pigeon because they are “unhappy”. Would anybody in their right mind kill a child who is “unhappy”? No. So why is it OK to perform this cruel task to an animal. You have the full support of my girlfriend, Phoebe (my pet pigeon), and I with your en-devours. May your birds bring a smile to your face everyday.
Thank you, Ivan!!
Anyone who believes Elmo and Georgie to be unhappy and diseased are either (a) insane or (b) incredibly ignorant.
It’s amazing the degree to which people have been brainwashed into believing that all pigeons are disease carriers. I’ve had so many people ask my about how I take precautions when I handle my Rasputin, it’s ridiculous.
Rasputin, by the way, is doing fabulously. She isn’t yet at the point where she’ll let me pet her, but she loves it when I sit near her and talk to her, telling her how pretty she is, etc. She closes her eyes and wiggles her wings in that ‘I’m so happy!’ way that pigeons do
Hi Sarah,
Soon she may start to perch on you!
glad to hear Rasputin is settling in with you and learning to trust you.
You are both WONDERFUL people!!!!!! You and your pigeons have made my day!! Please keep doing the amazing work that you’re doing. Your pigeons look extremely happy and well looked after – I only wish there were more people like you guys around!! Love, peace and gratitude, Taryn.
