I tried to take a few relaxed photos of Georgie (she doesn’t like the camera light) and I managed to get a few before Elmo jumped on the desk, wanting a piece of the action. He then tried to mate with my hand before deciding it wasn’t good enough and attacked it!

And here’s Elmo boy:
And attack!!!

Thanks for the photos!
It’s interesting how Georgie has such white talons and Elmo’s nails are black. Is it common for pigeon’s nails to be various colors, not dependent on their breed?
Hi Frank, it’s normal for pigeons’ nails to be different colour. I don’t think it matters what breed or type of pigeon they are. Georgie actually had four black nails and four white ones, and then they became all white a few years ago.
Great pics, thanks for sharing! I’ve never been able to see a pigeon up close before as most of the time I get near them they fly away. They are a lot more beautiful than you originally think!
Hi John, glad you like the photos!
Interesting Elmo appears to be attacking your rings – our female (Dolly) will peck my hands and then grab my ring in her beak and shake it, like a terrier! Do you think they are attracted to the metal or something?
Hi Fiona, both Elmo and Georgie do the same as your Dolly with rings. They then tuck them under themselves as if the ring is suitable nesting material.
